Answers pertaining to matters of law may not be valid for your jurisdiction. Consult an attorney regarding laws and regulations in your jurisdiction. How long does it take to get an account? In order to set up an account, you must read, complete, and return our Client Application Package with all of the requested information. Once we receive your packet, we will schedule a site inspection. After we have received the results of your site inspection, your account will be activated and you will receive your account number and password. The average time to set up an account is 4 to 5 business days. I only have a small number of properties, can I still use CreditLink Corporation for my tenant screening? Absolutely! CreditLink Corporation has no minimum requirement for screenings performed, whether you are a large corporation or a sole proprietor. The only requirement is that all clients must complete the Client Application Package and have the site inspection performed prior to having their account activated. What is my 'principal place of business'? The site inspection will be performed at your 'principal place of business.' This is the place where the records and files pertaining to your rentals are kept. In some cases this is an office building; in some case, this is a home office. If you have a home office, please use your home address as your principal place of business. What is a business vendor? A business vendor is someone who has provided services to your business. There are four types of business vendors we will accept: a credit card vendor that has provided your business with an account, a bank that has provided a loan for business purposes, a landline phone company that serves your business address, or a utility (such as the power or water company), that serves your business address. Will CreditLink sell my information to other companies? Absolutely not! The information required for the application process is kept private and confidential, and will never be sold or used for anything other than the application process. For more information, please see our Privacy Policy What is a Letter of Intent?
The Letter of Intent simply states the purpose you have for requesting reports, how many screenings you plan on doing, and where you anticipate your access will be. The example letter we have provided in the Client Application Package can be copied and filled in with the appropriate information on company letterhead. If you do not have letterhead, a letter on plain paper will do as long as your business name and address are at the top of it. Why do I have to have a site inspection? Due to the alarming rate of identity theft and breaches in the security of personal information, we are required to perform a site inspection for all our clients. The purpose is to ensure that the sensitive information you will obtain is for legitimate purposes and is properly safeguarded. Will the inspector be looking at my rental property? No. The Site Inspection process has nothing to do with your rental property, and everything to do with the safety and security of the reports that you obtain. What is the inspector looking for? The inspector is looking to see that your records are stored in a safe location with some form of security or locks. They will also check to see that you have an appropriate way of disposing of records, such as a shredder. Essentially they want to make sure that the reports you receive can only be accessed by you, or someone authorized by you. How long does the inspection take? The inspection process itself takes on average 15-20 minutes. The inspector will ask a few questions, and take a few photos of your office, after which they will have you sign some paperwork. Once the process is complete, they will submit the results back to us for processing. Do I have to do a site inspection every year? No. Currently, the only time you will be required to have another site inspection performed will be if you move your principal place of business. Return to the FAQ Index |
